TATTOOS
This list of Hardy's tattoos and meanings is useful as it is difficult to decipher his tattoos and understand their meaning. This could inspire some of my own tattoo ideas and think about their back story.

Amy Winehouse is a good reference for tattoos as similarly with my character, she deteriorated and looked very run down. While she had a healthier lifestyle, she had only a couple of tattoos. The style of the tattoos seem rough and sporadic. This is how I imagine my characters tattoos would look. I also imagine my character to have tattoos relating to similar themes such as the tattoo Amy had 'Daddy's.'

This is the style of tattoo that I imagine my character having. I may use a similar font face for one of my tattoos.
I intend for my character to be family orientated and therefore a tattoo like this 'Mum' and 'Dad' swallow tattoo would be ideal. Swallows also signify freedom from prison - could help to tell a story about my character.

PRISON TATTOOS
I really like how these prison tattoos tell a story, they are sporadic, random and look almost like 'doodles' on the skin. I particularly like the heart, diamond, spade and club on the knuckles. I like how a lot of the skin is covered. The tattoos almost look like code.
Thes prison tattoos are far more stylised and are much more inspired by illustration and graphic tattoos. These are French prison tattoos which may effect the style of them. These tattoos are not recognisable to me, perhaps because they relate to French culture howevver I would like my character to have recognisable tattoos such as a rose for example.

Cheryl Cole has a tattoo on her hand - I don't like this tattoo and think it looks tacky. This may be a good style of tattoo and placement for my character.

Combo from This Is England has many tattoos - mostly prison tattoos such as the tear drop which within prisons means that the person has murdered someone. He also has a swllow on his neck which signifys freedom. I really like the colouring of these tattoos, as they look quite rough and faded. I also really like the tattoos on his knuckles as they give the impression of a thug and also suggest part of his history - prison?
